Diagnostic test for Bovine Coronavirus (BCV Ag)

Bovine coronavirus (BCV) causes digestive and respiratory disease in young and adult cattle. Only a single serotype of bovine coronavirus is recognized. The primary routes of entry for bovine coronavirus are via the faecal-oral route or the nasal cavity. Infection normally occurs in calves between the ages of one week and three months. Gastrointestinal signs include profuse diarrhea - sometimes yellow or bloody, dehydration, depression, reduced weight gain and anorexia. Respiratory infection in the calf produces a serous to purulent nasal discharge. Clinical signs may worsen with secondary bacteria infection. There is no specific treatment of BCV infections, it is usually symptomatic.
